CMS registered 754 babies born, of which 130 Panevėžys babies were born in foreign countries (in 2019 – 922, of which 214 were born abroad). Most of Panevėžys’ babies living abroad were born in the United Kingdom, Norway, Germany and Ireland, less frequently in Mexico, Lebanon and the United States. 2020 370 girls and 384 boys were born in the city, 3 babies were born in the Panevėžys correctional home.
A fairly common phenomenon is living together without registering a marriage. About one in four children was born to unregistered parents. This trend has been accentuated in recent years.
The girls’ parents generally collected the following names: Igloo, Leah, Adele, Kamilė, Luknė, Amelia, Gabrielė, Paulina, Emilija, Gabija. For the kids: Mark, Adas, Luke, Matthew, Dominic, Emil, Cayus, Noah, Rock, Arius. Among the rarer names are Amia-Amahle, Aria-Nneka, Dairon-Lucifer.
Last year 1,410 deaths were registered (1,156 in 2019), that is, 254 more deaths than last year. The number of deaths in particular has increased in the last quarter. Last year, compared to 2019, there were fewer marriages and divorces in the city: 410 and 248, respectively (in 2019: 532 and 298).
According to Loreta Guokė, head of the Civil Registry Division, more than half of the couples chose civil marriages. The most popular marriage months are August, July. As for the dynamics of marriages and divorces in Panevėžys, as in all of Lithuania, there is a fairly clear trend towards the decrease in marriages and the stability of the number of divorces.
