Dakarsk diary (5): how Arūnas Gelažninkas settled in the “solitary” bivouac

This year Arūnas competes in the class called “Solitaire” or “Original of Motul”. Participants in this class, who carry on the traditions of the old Dakar, are highly respected. After all, you have to overcome a marathon in the desert without the help of mechanics!

At Dakar’s first bivouac, which is located near the town of Biša, we visit Arūnas Gelažninkas before going to bed. The living conditions of “Vienišiai” are slightly different, its tents are set up in a closed area. Motorcycles are also parked in the lighted sand so everyone can see who is repairing what. In other words, follow the rules.

Arūnas admitted that this Dakar will require much more effort, because he himself has to put the bike in order, prepare the clothes and put the things in a special box for the evening.

It is true that it can be said that the “solitary” tents are installed in a slightly more remote and quiet place. Well, at least the cars don’t go through their heads. And a shower nearby, and a dining room. You can also book a masseuse.

You can see what Arūnas Gelažninkas’s new house looks like in the first bivouac here:
