D. Bunkus shares his experience exclusively with the readers of Delfi and asks not to lose sight of the currently extremely difficult situation faced not only by people with comorbidities or the elderly, but also by young people who maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Bunkus says he wants to get the attention of those who believe in widespread misinformation on the internet these days. Sharing his experience with the coronavirus, Bunkus said he received a series of nasty comments from people who linked the pandemic to various conspiracy theories. The entrepreneur emphasizes: “If you take care of yourself or others, do it sincerely and realize that this disease is not a laugh.”
“Covid-19 also visited me. And I write to listen. For me, the infection spread to the lungs. I am an absolutely healthy, athletic 44-year-old man with no side effects. I don’t get sick and I don’t complain to anyone. But when I felt completely cured, the disease returned three times and the oxygen level in the blood began to drop. 99 percent. up to 90 percent. and below. And that means it’s already really bad. Listen here if your life is important to you. Covid-19 started eating my lungs. And now there are only two ways: either the lungs die faster than they heal and I calmly suffocate, or they heal faster than they die and I live.
My 48 m. a friend died last week. Be absolutely healthy before that. The heart stopped due to thrombi that formed in the lungs from Covid-19. What does it feel like to be at the crossroads of life that will not change in any way? Man – a joke. Peace. It will be as it will be … I have looked into the guild’s eyes many times and have a personal relationship with it – without emotions … But if you care about yourself or others – do it sincerely and realize that this disease it is not a laugh. If it’s important to you, think about it, ”wrote D. Bunkus on the social network.
How to recognize liars?
With the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, fake news about the virus is spreading on the internet and conspiracy theories are developing. Widespread misinformation misleads people: it is not clear which information is reliable and which is not.
Delfi has previously written about how to identify liars spread online.
Tomas Čeponis, an analyst with the Department of Strategic Communication of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, mentions the education system as a means to combat false information. Information and cyber literacy, critical thinking, logical and thinking errors, 21st century media literacy should be taught already at the school bench, he explains.
The specialist advises residents of the country not to be too quick to believe and share the news they have just read or heard. It is important to find the original source of the news and find it: “It should be noted that news that has caused feelings, such as frustration, anger, may be propaganda, because it is news that presents disinformation that affects the senses, not the logical ones. and critical thinking. It is also important to answer the questions: is it reliable information or is it an unknown medium, a theory of anonymity with a fictitious name? “

How does the covid-19 vaccine affect our bodies?
Vaccination against the covid-19 virus was launched in Lithuania since Sunday. Professor Saulius Čaplinskas, a specialist in infectious diseases, told how the vaccine affects the human body. According to him, the vaccine contains genetic information (mRNA – ribonucleic acid information) about the needle protein (s) of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which allows the virus to enter the cells of the human body.
“The vaccine does not contain the virus itself, so it cannot cause COVID-19 disease. The mRNA in the vaccine is coated with tiny fat particles (liposomes), which prevent the mRNA from breaking down and help it enter to the cell. When a person receives the vaccine, the cells of their body can “read” the genetic information encoded in the vaccine and begin to produce the needle protein. The human immune system recognizes this protein as foreign to the body and activates T cells, stimulating the production of antibodies that are part of a specific immune defense against foreign substances.
Subsequently, if a vaccinated person becomes infected with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, their immune system is already able to ‘recognize’ the virus and is ready to fight it: antibodies and T cells can work together to kill the virus, avoid to enter human cells and to kill infected cells, thus helping to protect against the coronavirus infection that causes COVID-19, “wrote the professor on his Facebook account, presenting the vaccine scheme.
The professor also explained that a two-week break from two doses of the vaccine is needed to further stimulate the immune response. Those three weeks are necessary for the formation of antibodies and memory cells.
“But the point is that when a person is infected with a virus, there is a race: the virus will damage our cells faster or the immune system will create protective mechanisms: antibodies, immune cells that will neutralize the virus faster than they will protect a person.
When a person is infected with the virus, it can take 1 to 2 weeks for the immune system to become fully functional and for the body’s immune cells to fight the invading virus. During that time, a person can get sick, develop a disease, there can be various complications, including very serious ones.
If a person is vaccinated, then the immune system is ready. The vaccine trains the immune system and prepares to fight the virus without waiting a week or two if it enters. The immune system is activated immediately.
The point here is that if a person has immunity: either because they have become ill or because they have acquired specific immunity through vaccines, the immune system immediately recognizes that there is a foreign virus and immediately activates the defense mechanisms. That way, a person just doesn’t get sick. Or, if you get sick in some cases, you get sick in a much milder way. This is the goal of vaccines, ”commented S. Čaplinskas about Delfi.
