Ilya Epifanov told BNS that he had submitted a request to the Lithuanian authorities immediately after the bank’s decision to freeze the accounts of the public institution.

“So far, we have not received anything from the Lithuanian side, no letters or help. We appealed to all instances at the beginning of last week, asking us to allow, above all, to pay people’s salaries. Allow us this, the money that we have in mind. We personally address the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Landsbergis, the Chairman of the Seimas Foreign Relations Committee, Mr. Pavilionis, the Ministry of the Interior and the central bank, “said the head of the sanatorium in BNS.

According to him, wages are usually paid to employees before the fourth day of the month and for December, even before the New Year. Expect to pay for the work in December, this time in early January. According to I. Epifanov, the public institution has three accounts, all of them in Swedbank.

This bank froze the sanatorium accounts alleging EU sanctions. According to I. Epifanov, at present, the sanatorium cannot carry out any operations, including transfers due to downtime.

The Ministry of Social Security and Labor (SADM) claims that the sanatorium actively used the opportunity to declare downtime before the accounts were frozen. According to I. Epifanov, out of 392 employees in December, there were about 350 downtime. grants in euros.

I. Epifanov also assured that the institution does not receive support from Belarus either.

“From the Belarusian side, what support can there be? Financial? Why? We are a completely independent institution financially, we have enough money for our work, we do it well, we pay all taxes. Why do we need money from Belarus?” , He claimed.

The sanitarium manager said he had not yet thought about possible layoffs and said he wanted to retain staff.

“And what the scenarios will be, it will not depend on us, because we will do everything possible to preserve the sanatorium and the equipment,” Epifanov said.

Swedbank froze the accounts of the sanatorium this month due to sanctions imposed by the EU on the Central Economic Board of the president of Belarus, who is a shareholder of the sanatorium.

Chancellor Gabriel Landsbergis told BNS that state authorities are considering how to directly help the people of Druskininkai affected by the situation so that the money does not go to the institution.
