On Christmas Eve, it was announced that his eldest daughter G. Nausėdaitė had come to the president from Germany to celebrate. The news soon spread and began to be criticized on social media.
Met with safety requirements.
The Presidency set out its position on the matter on Tuesday morning. Simonas Krėpšta, the president’s senior adviser on economic and social policy, says that upon his return, G. Nausėdaitė met all security requirements.
“The government has established restrictions and requirements on how people can cross the Lithuanian border. Here we also have a list of affected countries from which to isolate ourselves upon return, to have a negative test result.
In this particular case, the president’s daughter returned from Germany, a country where the prevalence of the virus is currently four times lower than in Lithuania.
Germany is not on the list of affected countries. It met all the requirements. She is the only person he could have put at risk upon his return, certainly herself.
Because he came back from a country where the virus, as I mentioned, is four times less frequent. Of course, all the requirements must be met, and this was met, “S. Krėpšta told” Žinių radio “.
See no objections
After the news about the return of G. Nausėdaitė spread, it was discussed whether the country’s president would be a suitable example for other residents. Until then, G. Nausėda encouraged citizens to refrain from having contacts and not to visit loved ones during the holidays.
“The main element of a good example is to follow the requirements established by the country. As I mentioned, each requirement has its meaning. The best example is meeting the applicable requirements. They were observed both by the president himself and by his relatives, ”said S. Krėpšta.
According to the president’s adviser, the decision to return the president’s daughter was made in accordance with the country’s own requirements and permits.
“That decision is made by the country’s regulatory authorities, the country’s government. As I mentioned, there are very clear movement restrictions in Lithuania and therefore movement between households and between municipalities, within the country, where the spread of the virus is very high, it is restricted to prevent the virus from spreading in close communication.
There are also very clear restrictions on how movement between countries can take place, that is, how people can move when they come to Lithuania or go to another. All these requirements were met, “said S. Krėpšta.
Currently, a quarantine regime is in force in Lithuania. You can see all the relevant information and quarantine requirements in this illustration from tv3.lt.
