The minister announced on Friday that the human movement had stopped, but within a week it began to grow again. “Until we make sure it’s controlled, that people stop moving, until the numbers stabilize, we can’t talk about any liberation,” he said.

According to the minister, it was noted that the people who pass the points are preparing better, they have the necessary documents.

Still, according to her, the total number of overturned cars is huge.

“The number of cars invested is enormous: 21 thousand were invested and they were not allowed, but the number of protocols is not very large, there will be about 600 protocols. Of course, the restrictions must be respected,” he said.

According to the minister, Plan B is also being discussed if stricter measures are needed, but what they could be, the politician did not detail.

“We need two weeks to assess the impact of the measures themselves,” he explained. Therefore, according to politicians, it is too early to judge whether they were effective.

According to A.Bilotaitė, the emergency commission will meet on Monday.

The interior minister said there would be no shortage of duty officers at the checkpoints.

A.Bilotaitė thanked not only the officers, but also the shooters and the military for the great job done and for ensuring compliance with the restrictions.

“There is still a stage ahead of the new year, because then we can also expect more traffic. I hope that our entire society, the people, are already more used to restrictions,” he said.

Commenting on the opposition accusations, A. Bilotaitė said that the situation now is such also due to the fact that politicians currently in the opposition did not take any action for some time.

The use of force has not yet been lost

Commissioner Požėla said that the number of cars delivered is similar every day.

“Some people don’t listen or read completely, but unfortunately they have to spoil the good Christmas mood and keep people coming back,” he said.

According to the commissioner, he does not want to write minutes to anyone, but it happens that “people have a special attitude towards restrictions” and towards the police themselves.

R. Požėla said that when passing through the checkpoint, people often explain that they go to their relatives, sometimes they indicate that they go shopping because there are poor stores in the area.

The force, he said, had not yet been used by the officers against the drivers.

“The conflicts are more verbal. In the vast majority of cases, people understand us, ”he said.
