According to the Minister of the Interior, Agnė Bilotaitė, the management of population flows by police officers in recent days has been a “dress rehearsal before the festive period”.

No more than two people or a family

According to the minister, he intends to further toughen and change the quarantine provisions due to the challenges facing the police.

“First of all, it’s about the number of people in the cars. That is why today we make a proposal to the Government that there should be no more than two people or members of a family farm in the car, ”A. Bilotait reported to reporters on Monday.

Renatas Požėla, Commissioner General of the Police, also supported the need to further strengthen the quarantine for drivers.

“Currently, we have such an interesting situation, where there are requirements for people in public places, private homes, but no requirements for vehicles. These are our demands, I think, they make sense. People everywhere will have to fulfill the requirement of the number of two people and a family farm, ”said R. Požėla.

The police, he said, also noticed an abusive exception to go to another municipality to work.

“We will evaluate such statements with greater precision and care. We reserve the right to call employers in various forms of communication and verify whether such persons are involved in urgent labor matters,” added R. Požėla.

It will unite the inhabitants of cities and districts

Another proposal from the Government Emergency Commission concerns the residents of the municipalities of the ring.

“Seeing the challenges of the people who live in the district municipalities and go to work in the municipalities of the city, we propose to adjust this procedure so that in the future it no longer causes us the challenges that were this weekend,” added A Bilotaitė.

R. Požėla mentioned the problems faced by people who have to travel between cities and district municipalities.

“People are massively connected: the residents of the city with the districts and vice versa. We have seen a massive legal movement from the cities to the district. We see that many neighbors live in the area but work in the city or vice versa. It is a legal movement. between a city and a district We have seen that the residents of the district need certain services from the institutions located in the city. <...>

The proposal that perhaps the city and the district should be treated as a single territorial unit and subject to the same quarantine conditions. That would be more logical than it is now, “commented R. Požėla.

According to R. Požėla, if such a proposal were adopted, all the adjacent municipalities would not be united, only a part of them.

“The city of Vilnius and the Municipality of the Vilnius District would be an administrative unit and those inspections would be carried out, and the posts would be installed on the border of the Vilnius district and other municipalities. It would be another municipality in this place in the Trakai district, ”said R. Požėla as an example.

Will control the outputs

The police also intend to control not only the people who enter the municipalities, but also the people who leave them.

“We are only part of the officers, perhaps not permanently, as far as possible, to differentiate ourselves in controlling the oncoming traffic. At the same point, an inspection would be carried out both in one direction and the other, ”said R. Požėla.

Restricted movement

From December 16. until January 3. Residents are prohibited from leaving their municipality of residence, except for exceptions provided for work reasons or special circumstances.

Exceptions are provided when residents travel to or from airports, seaports, bus stations that serve international passenger routes, the municipality of their place of residence, due to the death of close relatives, to work when work is other municipalities.

Exceptions are also foreseen for people traveling for medical care services or other objectively justified reasons of urgency when it is unavoidable to go to another municipality.

Furthermore, the insurance does not apply to persons (members of a family or a household) who travel to the municipality where they own real estate.
