According to the Lithuanian Transport Security Administration, due to slowing down of people and their less frequent bus trips, 458 flights out of 1054 have already been suspended. By Christmas, there will be 16 more buses for the last time.
As Eglė Kučinskaitė, Head of the Department of Communication and International Cooperation of this institution, told BNS, the requests of all intercity bus companies to temporarily suspend flights were satisfied.
“The suspension of intercity flights affected all regions of the country: in some places more flights were suspended, in others less,” he said.
Eight of the 39 companies have not yet requested the suspension of flights: all buses depart from the Biržai, Joniškis, Skuodas, Jurbarkas, Šalčininkai bus fleets, and the Meteorit turas, Vilkama and Svirka companies do not reduce the number of flights.
According to E. Kučinskaitė, during the last quarantine, two carriers refused to transport on certain routes.
This year a total of nine routes have been canceled.
