Seven checkpoints have been set up in Klaipeda. Traffic is prohibited on other roads. As a result of the inspections, the traffic began to move much slower from the first hour of work of the officers, but there was no major congestion, people had to turn around for an unnecessary reason. Klaipeda Mindaugas County Džermeika, head of LSC’s Traffic Police Service, shared the latest information on the work of officers on the roads.

“On Wednesday and Thursday, there were already road restriction signs restricting access to Klaipeda. The whole county, all regional points are also ready, and if we highlight Klaipeda, seven points work here. There are several thousand drivers to check, about 200 of them have turned around, ”says M. Džermeika.

Officials remind you that you need to have documents showing that you actually live in Klaipeda and are not shopping.

The official shared that there have already been several curious cases with drivers. One was in such a hurry in the Klaipėda district that before reaching the checkpoint from afar, the officers waved their mobile phones. Officials had no complaints regarding the documents, and it is not possible to have a phone in your hands while driving, for which the man was fined for it.

Another person really wanted to shop in Klaipeda, but even the beautifully persuaded officials did not give up, so the district resident, who arrived about 30 kilometers from the port city, had to return from where he came from.

There have been no drivers sanctioned as of this afternoon. According to Ms. Jermeika, people respond to the quarantine and restriction reminder without bold anger and follow the instructions of officials.

Officials from the Klaipėda County Main Police Station will, in accordance with the Government’s instructions, monitor traffic on the county roads from 18 December. (Friday), 1:00 p.m., until December 20. (Sunday), 9 p.m., as well as December 23, 1 p.m., 2 p.m., and 1 p.m., and December 31, 1 p.m., to January 3, 9 p.m.
On other days, beginning December 16, police officers will arrive at county road posts at any time to verify the need for people to travel to one or another county municipality.

Part of the accesses to the cities of the region will be blocked by technical means, as well as the road signs that prohibit entry. At least two officers will work in each position.

In case of need to enter Klaipeda, it is allowed:

  • Per Liepojos st. (Address Kalotė), Medelyno St. – Šilojų St.;
  • Through Girulius;
  • Via Pajūrio st. (Tauralaukis);
  • Per Liepų st .;
  • Per Tilžės st .;
  • Across the highway from Vilnius;
  • Via Rimkus (intersection of Rimkų St. – Lanko St.).

No admittance:

  • To Kairių Street from gravel roads;
  • Klemiškės street from the Palanga highway;
  • From Valle Verde to V callejo street. (Tauralaukis);
  • Through the FEZ territory located on Švepelių St., leading to Rimkų St.
