According to the Chief of Police, people entering Vilnius are ready for control, they have documents, certificates or extracts confirming the need for the trip.

“For those people, the inspection is quick, let’s get it going and let it go,” he said.

According to him, there are no exceptions for those who travel by bus and train. If the passengers do not have the supporting documents, they can be disembarked.

The commissioner appealed to people who will try to find ways around the checkpoints.

“It just came to our attention then. The rules of the game are clear: there are points to be passed and arguments. Those who try to be more astute will receive Christmas” bonuses “from the police starting at 500 euros,” warned R. Požėla.

The groups are already actively setting up groups where people share information about checkpoints and tips on how to avoid them. The Commissioner emphasized that these citizens are only fooling themselves.

“There is daily life in Lithuania, there are groups in which information about tripods and crews is shared. It will not be the case that you defraud the police. We don’t need to be fooled. In this way, you will deceive yourself and your loved ones, ”he noted.

Police have been monitoring the decline in the number of people traveling since Wednesday, and even fewer people are expected over the weekend.

According to R. Požėla, so far he has not heard of conflict situations and the police will always try to follow the criteria of reasonableness.

“We do not rule out that there are several situations, we will look at the letter of the Government’s resolution, but there is a general point: due to individual situations, officials can make individual decisions. One such solution is for migrants who do not have real estate and a declared place of residence. The criteria of reasonableness also apply to people who say that their actual place of residence is with their parents or elsewhere, we should omit them, ”said R. Požėla.

Starting today, only trucks carrying goods will be able to travel freely, it is planned that other passengers will stop and ask about the purpose of their trip.

The blocking stations will be installed from Friday at 1 pm until Sunday at 9 pm.

In total, more than 900 police teams will work in the country during the weekend, and they will also be assisted by more than 300 shooters, 270 border guards and about fifty military policemen.
