“It was a preventive measure that was being implemented, the drivers were asked what the purpose of their trip was. The stationary checkpoints will already be set up as of Friday. As the stricter quarantine rules came into effect only at midnight, officials certainly do not attack drivers, “Samorokovskaya told Eltai.
According to a representative of the Vilnius County Police, the motion control introduced in Vilnius on Wednesday was carried out without problems, misunderstandings were avoided and some drivers, according to her, had even managed to take over the necessary documents.
“Today, as far as I had to communicate with the officers, there were even drivers who already had the necessary documents and could present them to the officers. The drivers really followed the rules in good faith, stopped where they were needed when the officers stopped, and so far everything has gone well, ”said a representative of the Vilnius County Police, emphasizing that the inspections continue.
However, according to Samorokovskaya, much stricter movement controls will be introduced from Friday, and unjustified people unable to reach their destination will not be allowed into the city.
“Starting on Friday at 1 p.m. There will be stationary checkpoints and if indeed people, drivers do not have supporting documents or cannot explain the purpose for which they drive, they will be returned. The adjustment will take effect from Friday at 1 pm until Sunday at 9 pm, ”said a representative of the Vilnius County Police.
“Officers will be on duty 24 hours at these posts, of course, it is possible that people will also be detained in the city, as such stricter control is taking place in the city itself,” he added.
