The President of the European Commission has announced that the first shipment of the vaccine will arrive in the European Union on December 26. Lithuania will have a proportional 0.6 percent. part of the first batch of vaccine, that is, several thousand doses. Lithuania, like other countries, will reach a previously agreed quantity of vaccines in proportion to the population, thus ensuring transparency in the distribution of vaccines in the European Union. As soon as Lithuania receives the vaccine, it will start vaccinating its citizens. The first people to be vaccinated in Lithuania will be the doctors and the people most at risk: the elderly, ”said the president.
The president and prime minister discussed the need to speed up vaccination preparations and ensure the efficiency of the vaccination process in Lithuania from next week.
The second shipment of the vaccine is scheduled to arrive in Lithuania, as well as other EU countries, in January. Negotiations on the production of the required quantity of vaccine for EU countries and the faster distribution of vaccine shipments are taking place at the highest EU level.
