Andrius Mazuronis and Vytautas Gapšys registered such an amendment to the Alcohol Control Law in the Seimas. The liberalization of the alcohol trade is proposed on Sundays from May 2021.

Alcohol is now available on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., other days until 8 p.m.

One of the authors of the initiative, V. Gapšys, told BNS that the current regulation of the alcohol trade is not rational and that the proposal to equalize the conditions of the alcohol trade every day would be a demonstration that “we trust the society and we respect people’s right to decide for themselves. “

“It just came to our knowledge then. It is not necessary to distinguish Sunday from other days. I have no idea why Sunday is the same and Monday is different,” said the parliamentarian.

According to him, the ban on dealing with alcohol on Sundays after 3 pm is one of the prohibitions that has no detailed explanation.

“Why from 3 pm and why not at 2 pm Or not from 4 in the afternoon? Asked the politician.

In June 2018, the Seimas shortened the time of the alcohol trade: on weekdays and on Saturdays it allowed to buy it from 10 am to 8 pm, on Sundays, from 10 am to 3 pm
