According to the mayor of the port city, although final decisions have not been made yet, it is proposed to leave only 3 entrances to the city open, considering the possibility of further reducing their number at night.
There are probably about 12 access roads to Klaipeda, if we name the main ones or the most used, they are 7. But even if we talk about the fact that 7 roads close 24 hours for three weeks, ensuring entry, exit, imagine what forces would be needed for such regulation. V. Grubliauskas testified at the press conference organized by the Klaipėda municipality.
For this reason, the mayor of the port city reports that on Monday it was tentatively agreed to leave 3 access roads to Klaipeda. However, V. Grubliauskas emphasizes that this is not the final decision yet.
“We usually talk about probably 3 access roads to the city from the north, south and east. In terms of control, this would make the work of officials a little easier and the need to ensure the required number of officials, ”he said.
V. Grubliauskas states that it is also considering leaving only 1-2 entrances to the city overnight.
“Perhaps (it would be possible – ELTA) to even differentiate in the time that the three entrances should not work 24 hours a day for three weeks. Perhaps it could be regulated so that the 3 entrances work during the day (…) 2 could be enough at night ”, considered V. Grubliauskas.
While the mayor of Klaipeda emphasizes that final decisions have not yet been made, according to him, it is believed that these decisions could facilitate the work of officials.
“This would also ensure the spirit of these decisions taken yesterday by the Government – maximum restriction of circulation or mobility both from the municipality and towards the municipality, and, of course, within the municipality itself,” said V. Grubliauskas.
ELTA recalls that on Sunday, the new government, taking into account the recommendations of the experts, decided to toughen the quarantine in force in the country and extend it until January 31.
