It all started with an unexpected impulse
Aušra never considered herself a lover of crafts, she was the last to embroider in primary classes, in a group of working hands. His work is also far from creative. At work the judge has to be tense and specific, there really is no place to relax here.
About six years ago, embroidery appeared in a woman’s life in a completely impulsive and unexpected way.
“I went to the wool shop once and I look – very nice photos. It caught my eye that beautiful. I hadn’t paid attention to them before, so I started to ask what it was. It turned out that these embroidery blanks: a certain pattern printed on the fabric, which can be embroidered.
We started talking to the seller, maybe you need special courses to learn? No, she says, you only need special needles and embroidered with a cross, and both, I will show you. It seemed – really simple. That’s how I bought the blank space for my first photo, ”said the interviewee with a smile.
Starting with a small picture, Aušra “caught up” – unexpectedly, he liked and enjoyed this activity. Now you can embroider anywhere: on a long trip, watching TV, etc. All you have to do is have the right yarn colors. If you really want, you can creatively look at the colors of the blanks, change them, and those who know how to draw can draw their own drawing on the fabric.
A woman agrees: it is a job that requires a lot of care, but because of that it has a relaxing effect.
I really like embroidering flowers and large pictures with many different little details.

“When I concentrate on embroidery, all the problems that I bring from work disappear because the mind is occupied with something else, it has to concentrate on a small drawing. I like to deal with such small things. And it doesn’t bother me at all to embroider a picture for a year or more. Not rush.
True, I recently deleted a medium-sized puppy for a friend’s granddaughter in about three weeks. If I had had more time, I would have concentrated and, I think, embroidered in about four days.

It is a pleasure for me. I give it all the time I have: an hour and a half, the next day two, and sometimes even four hours. In summer and spring, when the weather is nice, I board less. I really like embroidering flowers and large pictures with many different small details, especially those that look like tapestries, I can very rarely buy them. I think they were copied from old tapestries ”, said the interlocutor.
He worked on his largest embroidery painting for two years. Its size is 140×145 cm. The last painting of the antique tapestry type is also large, 90×120 cm. Aušra took a year and a half to embroider it. It’s true that if I had had more time, I would surely have finished it in a year. And here is the “Last Supper” – size 125×65 cm.

Although she has only been involved in this hobby for about six years, the woman already has a small collection of this type of work hanging on the walls of her house and has awarded even more.
Although this, as Aušra herself says, is an expensive hobby (the largest blank cost her 300 euros), the passion for embroidery has not disappeared during all this time. “I had tried to knit once, but this activity did not catch me,” laughed the interviewee.
