This Sunday, the largest theater in the country will feature a Christmas tree decorated with the theme of “Traviata.” All lovers of opera and ballet are invited to watch the adventurous festive ceremony on the theater’s YouTube channel.
“I wanted elegant dresses, an antique chandelier, and elegant columns associated with this opera. And of course the Christmas spirit has been kept so the Christmas tree doesn’t get too modern. It is always fun to work with old theater props: they are not things without spirit, ”says M. Petruškevičius.
According to him, an attempt was made to infuse the Christmas tree with the mysterious warmth of home, which has been characteristic of the festive decoration of this theater since ancient times – this is evidenced by the hearts painted in retro style. Also, like every year, the LNOBT Christmas tree will be “musical”: this is the impression created by the trumpets placed in the Christmas composition.

The stylist does not hide that, in preparation for the play, he had to take an interest in the history of “Traviata”, reviewing many photos reminiscent of previous productions of this opera.
And while I was in the theater, there was the opportunity to look behind the scenes and see the decorations for the future production of “Traviata.” I admit it: I was horrified by his majesty through my body. I have a great idea of how much effort it takes to create such a grandiose, pompous set … So I say sincerely: I’m not waiting for him to come to the premiere of “Traviata”. It is also impressive that this opera production was created by Giuseppe Verdi’s native Italians ”, emphasizes M. Petruškevičius.
The Traviata tunes will also play on December 13. (Sunday) 7 pm in a theatrical Christmas tree lighting ceremony, which all theater lovers will be able to see virtually.
