“It just came to our attention then. So far, they are not decreasing. Being optimistic, unfortunately, I cannot say anything reassuring because this situation is worrisome. Starting next week, we need to increase the number of thirty beds, and this already It is being done at the expense of other departments. We are in the center, the internal medicine wards, which have been temporarily suspended by a large number of staff in self-isolation, should return next week, but they will not return to that ward, but to Josvainių street, where people with coronavirus are treated. We will already have a hundred and a half beds for patients, plus a few dozen in other wards that are being treated for other ailments, “says the spokesman.
Doctors don’t even remember such blows
It is true that there are still people who think that the coronavirus is not dangerous, or at least less dangerous than the flu epidemic. The interviewee stressed in the program that we cannot even compare the coronavirus with the flu.
“I have worked in this hospital for more than five years and there at the time of the start of the cold and flu epidemic, and there were forty patients at the peak of the flu.
The doctors said there were already a lot of patients, a big burden, we were working hard, but those patients were also lighter, they didn’t need oxygen masks, they didn’t need such intensive care. Now there are 120 patients in that infectious disease ward, they no longer fit there, so we have expanded at the expense of cardiology and other therapeutic units in the contiguous body.
Starting next week, those 230 are likely to be filled as well. Certainly, there have not been as many critically ill patients in the entire history of the hospital for several decades. We can’t even compare ourselves to the flu. None of the older doctors has seen blows of this type in their lives, ”says the interlocutor.
When asked if there were enough doctors to fight the coronavirus, the interviewee emphasized that any doctor who is in self-isolation is a very bad sign. At present, according to the representative, departments and employees are being reformed, but the forces are not very great.

Of course, each illness, the self-isolation of each doctor, is very painful because he constantly needs to rethink his rest and work schedules while the hospital works 24 hours. “It just came to our notice then. We bought an extra fridge, it has a large capacity, we still have a lot to spare. There is no place to put it. Anyway, we had enough space for six people in the morgue. That certainly would not have been enough for her now, since now about ten bodies are formed on average. As you say, recovery is not always the next day, recovery takes time, but there are accumulations, but it is not dramatic, because we are ready, “said the interlocutor.
