“The employee tested positive for COVID-19 during the preventive tests. She doesn’t feel any symptoms, ”said Rolanda Lingienė, Vilnius department director at NVSC.
According to her, a total of 142 employees were prophylactically evaluated, of which about 50 received responses.
Four staff members and five patients had contact with the patient; they were isolated.
“Five patients had to be further examined, but the hospital decided to test 32 patients,” said R. Lingienė.
The Ignalina district municipality announced Friday that the work of the Admissions Department was temporarily suspended at the hospital for up to seven days.
Additionally, patients from other treatment facilities will not be temporarily admitted to the nursing and therapy departments, but not less than Thursday, and patients will not be discharged.
According to the municipality, essential services will only be provided to patients in hospital wards.
Among other things, mandatory sampling of all patients and staff is scheduled for Thursday.
To date, 1,662 cases of coronavirus infection have been confirmed in Lithuania. 370 people are still infected with the infectious disease, and 1,216 have recovered.
68 people have died since COVID-19, and eight others have died from other causes.
