Most coronavirus deaths occurred between the ages of 80 and 89
Of the 31 people who died of coronavirus last day, 12 died in the age group 80 to 89, Lithuania Statistics said on Thursday.
Eight belonged to the age group of 70 to 79 years, from 60 to 69 to five, from 50 to 59 to four, from 90 to 99 to two dead.
The highest number of deaths, 15, was recorded in Vilnius county. Six people died in Kaunas, four in Panevėžys, three in Šiauliai, one in each of the counties of Utena, Alytus and Telšiai.
14 of the dead were men and 17 women.

2,146 COVID-19 patients are being treated in hospitals, 173 of them in resuscitation, the Department of Statistics reported Thursday.
1212 patients need oxygen, 101 people are covered by artificial lung ventilation.
Currently, approximately half of the hospital beds are occupied: 8,558 out of 16,000. 634.
Of the 672 resuscitation beds, more than half were occupied – 387. Of the 624 beds that can be used for artificial lung ventilation, 238 are occupied and of the 6289 oxygen beds, 2,412 are occupied.
The daily register of cases was recorded in Lithuania on Wednesday: 3128 new cases of coronavirus were detected per day, 31 people died.
In Lithuania, stricter quarantine conditions came into force: all older students switched to distance education, and limited car traffic to shops began.
Prime Minister-designate Ingrida Šimonytė announced a public appeal to outgoing Saulius Skvernelis ahead of the government meeting, requesting that the quarantine conditions be tightened. He reiterated that the prime minister-designate was running a public relations campaign because the statement had been distributed just before the meeting and did not contain any specific measures.
A new procedure has been approved so that a family doctor can now diagnose COVID-19 without a test if a person develops specific COVID-19 symptoms within 14 days of contact with a patient who has been screened for the disease.
