The delay is replaced by activity
According to Lina Paulauskė, General Manager of Inregnum Lietuva, who will stay only a few days until December 10, residents are actively looking for the best option for their home.
“User activity is quite high, we get a lot of inquiries every day. Residents continue to search for a convenient way to compare vendor offers in the market, inquire about payment and declaration options, and calculate the price of the bag. every month. Therefore, it seems that there are many people who left the question of choosing an independent electricity supplier until the last minute, “says L. Paulauskė.
Neringa Petrauskienė, marketing and communications manager for another independent electricity provider, Elektrum Lietuva, says these people’s delay may have been influenced by the belief in better “last minute” deals. He points out that migration is already taking place between providers.
“Some consumers have been waiting until the last few days, probably waiting for Christmas or other discounts, but now, after a detailed analysis of the offers, they are already making decisions. Others who had previously signed contracts were changing providers because, perhaps, having more time and receiving more information, they realized that the first option was not the most beneficial for them. We also note that some customers, tempted by products related to the price of electricity on the stock market, are now changing their minds and choosing fixed price products, because they have seen that the price on the electricity exchange has been growing recently and want to reduce your risk ”, explains N. Petrauskienė.
However, according to her, part of the population is not yet in depth enough and does not understand the prices of the different providers.
“With no experience in choosing an electricity supplier, residents do not evaluate offers more broadly and sometimes only look at one tariff, which can change as the situation in the electricity market changes. Therefore, it is very important to self-assess all the conditions of the offer: what flexibility is left to the consumer to change prices, if the service provider is reliable, experienced or flexible, willing to communicate and cooperate with the client ”, says a representative of Elektrum Lietuva.
Main problems
As Andrius Kavaliauskas, Ignitis’ Head of Private Customer Service, observes, perhaps the most common question for Phase I consumers is: “How will you have to pay for electricity from now on?”
“When it comes to payment, we always assure customers that the order does not change and it will be necessary to declare electricity consumption as before, every month, until the last day of the month. And at the end of the month you will receive an invoice that you can pay through the same payment channels, as before ”, says A. Kavaliauskas.
According to him, fewer inquiries are received with the question: “what will happen if I do not choose an independent provider before December 10?”
“It is important to know that if you enter Stage I and before December 10th. you do not choose an independent provider, effective January 1, 2021. The guaranteed power supply will apply until you choose an independent provider. It will be provided by the Energy Distribution Operator (ESO). However, ESO must ensure the guaranteed supply for only 6 months, during which time it will still be necessary to choose an independent supplier, ”explains the Ignitis representative.
Independent electricity providers say there are also cases where residents spend a lot of time researching conditions and differences between providers before making a decision.
“We noticed that applicants are very interested in the question: ‘how will the price be calculated? “After all, until now, residents had received an electricity bill, which did not have as many components. It is very important that customers see and understand what the price of electricity consists of, so we are happy to provide customers electricity at a real wholesale price without intermediaries directly from the main sales exchange in Western and Nordic Europe: Nord Pool. Subsequently, the flexibility of the contract terms and the convenience of paying for the services are deepened “, says Egidijus Rutkauskas, Director of EGTO Energy.
According to him, there are also questions such as what is the origin of the electricity, if it will not be the case that electricity is going to be purchased from the Astravo nuclear power plant, how providers receive electricity, where will it be necessary to request it in case of a breakdown, whether the contract can be terminated, etc.
“In this case, we explain to our clients that the State Energy Regulatory Authority (VERT) and the Energy Distribution Operator (ESO) ensure that the distribution of electricity is reliable and efficient, and that the elimination of network failures and the connection of new customers is fluid ”, says E. Rutkauskas.
Price is not the only priority
According to L. Paulauskė, residents do not express high expectations when choosing a provider, so every effort is made to explain to applicants what and in what case they receive.
“For most people, price and the opportunity to save by choosing an independent vendor are important. However, people are also interested in the possibilities of payment and the issuance of the declaration. For some, it is important to do everything remotely, while others want to pay in physical points and choose a provider accordingly, ”says Inregnum CEO Lietuva.
A. Kavaliauskas also agrees with her. According to him, price does not always play an important role.
“We note that a particularly important factor for customers when choosing a supplier is their reliability, the company’s experience in working with customers, as well as the various additional benefits it offers. Although price is an important criterion in choosing a supplier of electricity, people do not rely solely on it when choosing a supplier, ”says a representative of Ignitis.
