Some try to use illegal equipment, another send someone else to the exam, and a third is tempted by fraudulent ads on social media.
As is well known, to obtain the right to drive, a person must pass the theory and practice exams in the “Registry”. The future driver must not only understand the traffic signs, be able to drive the car, but also realize his responsibility as a driver towards other road users. However, not everyone is so honest, there are still those who try to cheat and want to get the right to drive in an easier way.
So Regitra has produced a video about the fraud and why not:
Cheating during a theory test
During the theoretical test, the most common cases of fraud: the exam reaches another person or a potential driver uses unauthorized equipment.
“Recently, there was a situation where the examinee entrusted his identity document to someone else to come and pass the theory test for him. Of course, we realized this and immediately referred the case to the police. A person who sent someone else instead of himself was prosecuted and fined 1,500 euros. You will not be able to take the test before a year, ”says Inga Adukonienė, a Regitra employee who works in the field of driving tests.
There are still cases where a person decides to go to the exam with unauthorized audio and video transmission equipment. This is one of the reasons why theory exam classes have recently been updated throughout Lithuania, making it even easier to spot people trying to cheat. In the new standard test classes, prospective drivers sit in one hemisphere and each test site has additional surveillance cameras and mirrors.
If a person is found to be acting dishonestly, the test result is voided and a repeated theoretical knowledge test can be taken no earlier than one year.
Don’t believe fraudulent ads on social media
Nowadays, as social networks have become part of each of our daily lives, it is natural that scammers who offer certain services, such as supposedly obtaining a real driver’s license, are also moving in them. As practice shows, these individuals simply attract money and disappear.
“Once a colleague received an unexpected call with the question: ‘Did you take the money and forget the agreement?’ Later, we learned from the police authorities that a fake Facebook account had been created in his name and in this way an attempt had been made to deceive people by offering “help”, says I. Adukonienė.
This is one of the most typical and common scenarios where scammers misappropriate the personal data of Regitra employees and seek to extort money under the guise of a company.
“We do not know exactly how many scams of this type occur, because a person who has transferred money to a scammer and understands what has happened often does not dare to go to law enforcement,” says an employee of the company.
The police are notified of false accounts or advertisements of this type. Social media scammers are asked to block.
How to successfully prepare for the theory exam?
In order for future drivers to successfully prepare for future exams and participate independently and safely in traffic, Regitra has prepared training materials: virtual driving lessons, a theory test and more can be found on the company’s website .
Here is a pilot exam test. Try it. One slide has a question and the other has the correct answer.
