“The main premise that we want to put to the test is simply to put in place such a measure so that those who die at home are discredited by the great help that comes there,” he told reporters on Seimas on Tuesday.
According to the minister, the goal would be to find out if the deaths could be directly related to the coronavirus pandemic.
“It would be possible to find out if we weren’t seeing actual covid deaths, which are now, well, undetectable, just undiagnosed. (…) A person can die at home, but no one prescribes Covid-19. We want to test this hypothesis and then we will see ”, added the minister.
Last week, A. Veryga claimed that the increase in mortality in Lithuania is related to cardiovascular diseases, but added that “a certain number of coronavirus deaths may be hidden underneath them.”
According to the Statistics Department, 1,014 people died in week 47 of this year alone.
Compared to the same period last year, this is the highest mortality in 20 years.
