This draft resolution was presented to the Seimas on Thursday by Seimas First Vice President Jurgis Razma. However, at the request of the “peasants” of the Seimas, a pause in the presentation of this question was made until the next session.

“A mixed group of Seimas members has not received any leadership position, don’t be so greedy that everything is just for you,” J. Razma replied to the “peasants” in the Seimas session.

Zigmantas Balčytis, a former MEP nominated by the Lithuanian Social Democratic Labor Party, won the parliamentary mandate in the single-member constituency of Šilutė.

This politician, who has worked in the European Parliament for 10 years, is also not a newcomer to the Lithuanian Seimas. He has been a member of the Seimas from 2000 to 2009.

The Statute of the Seimas establishes that a representative of an opposition faction or a coalition of factions with more than half of the Seimas members belonging to a minority of the Seimas shall be elected as chairman of the Audit Committee or his alternate.
