More than 700 living green curly branches were used to create a 10 meter tall fir tree, and 240 pieces were used to decorate it. gold and red toys, several dozen star-shaped ornaments, a garland of 3,000 LED flashes and 6,000 LED bulbs.
The Christmas tree was also playfully decorated with Christmas decorations: Santa’s sleigh, deer, and Santa’s interactive mail. Children will be able to throw letters written at home to Santa Claus in a special Santa Claus mailbox, and to make wishes come true, every time you write a letter green lights will light up, inviting you to believe in the miracle of Christmas.
Due to the announced quarantine in Lithuania, the traditional Christmas tree lighting event in Kretinga was also abandoned. However, it was decided to surprise the townspeople and guests with new solutions: the Revelation of the Lord of Kretinga. For the Virgin Mary, the walls of the church tower and the monastery building became screens for a Christmas tale.
The history of the city’s historic buildings was revived with the help of modern laser equipment. It was created from drawings of the communities of 150 educational institutions in the district, reflecting the following themes: “Winter in Kretinga”, “Advent – a time of waiting”, “Christmas magic”, “My Christmas dream” and others.
To avoid rallies, the art installation is continuously shown two nights: Friday and Saturday, from 5 pm to 10 pm. It was also available online on Friday night.
By the way, this year another fairy tale, the white one, was revived on the terrace of the Kretinga manor house. The characters in Salomėja Nėris’s play “Grandmother’s Tale” are moved to the realm of fairy tales, as well as a white-decorated fir tree, a sea of lanterns, various carvings decorated with windows, Christmas music and special lighting.
Due to the quarantine, the exhibition in the glass-enclosed gallery can be seen from outside until the Feast of the Magi, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
This year, the Christmas atmosphere in Kretinga is also created by the traditional street-lit LED decorations and even several dozen exclusive Christmas decorations, glowing light bulbs, in different parts of the city.
