R. Kuncaitis left Chimki: I lived in a “suitcase mood” for several weeks

Coach Rimas Kurtinaitis did not look at his staff members at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport on Thursday before the flight to Munich: the usual Euroleague travel ritual, which had lasted for almost a year, was interrupted on Wednesday by the decision of the leaders of the Chimki club in Moscow: three assistants from Kurtinaitis.

“Yes, what you’ve heard is true. In a few days we will be in Lithuania. My work at the club is over, “- reluctantly commented one of the 56-year-old R. Kurtinaitis assistants to the lrytas.lt journalist Modestas Krukauskas Robert Kuncaitis.

– Was it explained why the club rejected your services?

– I find it difficult to explain this situation and, in fact, I do not want to explain it. Everyone has seen that the team is not showing the expected results. In some places, the coaches did not solve that situation, in some places the situation itself was such that it was impossible to take other measures.

– How did you find out about the dismissal?

– We discovered so much … Once again, I want to say that everything worked out and is going very well. We say goodbye to the club’s coach, Pavel Astachov, while remaining friends. Although … The thought kept hovering that a stone had fallen from my heart yesterday – I don’t know how others, I lived in a kind of “suitcase mood” for a few weeks. It was disappointing to lose, although the work was endless. But these are just my considerations. Still, it’s sad to leave a club you’ve spent so much time on.
