“As for the leader of the opposition, he can only emerge when everything is settled. When the opposition is the opposition, the position will be the position, the government program will be approved, we will see who does what. Then the opposition can form its own own alternative agenda, “the MP told News Radio on Friday.

“Until now, it’s confusion, division of positions. “Only after the New Year, in the spring session, will we be able to resolve the issue mainly with the leader of the opposition,” he added.

According to the politician, there is currently a paradoxical situation in parliament where the current opposition cannot criticize the government’s proposals because they were drafted by representatives of the current opposition.

“Today we have a strange situation when the interim government, which is ending its mandate, is in opposition. It is said that many of the decisions that come to the Seimas are still inertia, as if they should be criticized by the opposition, but they cannot be criticized because part of the opposition has drafted them. Meanwhile, the new rulers are criticized, who have to leave the opposition critical regime and start making proposals, ”commented G. Paluckas.

He added that to elect an opposition leader, “there must be circumstances, there must be a common opposition program, aspiration.”

“Anyway, having an opposition leader who would simply yell through the microphones for a longer period of time than an ordinary member of the Seimas under the statute doesn’t make sense,” Paluck said.

He also said that a shadow government could be formed in the next few years, but a certain operational program is needed first.

The Seimas opposition currently includes the Social Democrats, the Labor Party and the Lithuanian Green and Peasant Union.

The ruling majority in parliament is made up of the Lithuanian Christian Democrats from the National Union, the Freedom Party and the Liberal Movement.
