Currently, the Employment Law establishes that the self-employed can claim a benefit of 257 euros for a full month if they meet three conditions: their activity is registered for at least 3 months. Prior to the publication of the quarantine, the remuneration received by virtue of the employment contract or equivalent legal relationship will not exceed 607 euros before taxes, and in the case of a legal person it may not be declared bankrupt or liquidated. The benefit is paid monthly as long as the emergency and quarantine are in effect. At the end of the quarantine, the benefit is paid for another two months.

The adopted modifications decided to pay the benefit to the self-employed who meet the above conditions only if the Government establishes restrictions on economic activities when declaring an emergency and quarantine, and the self-employed person is included in the list of emergency victims and quarantine due to restrictions imposed by the State Tax Inspection.

It was also decided to pay the benefit only one month after the end of the quarantine.

117 MPs voted in favor of the bill, there were no abstentions 2.

According to Elta, the chairman of the Seimas Budget and Finance Committee Mykolas Majauskas said that assistance should be provided to the self-employed even after the end of the quarantine.

“A hard landing for the autonomous should not be our objective. We must ensure that assistance is provided for some time after the end of the quarantine. This outgoing government was planning a hard landing, wiping out the aid after the quarantine, but a month could be the middle ground, it will need to provide funding in next year’s budget, and I think we will, ”said M. Majauskas.

Julius Sabatauskas, a member of the Social Democratic Group, agreed that it was necessary to extend aid to the self-employed.

“It is very strange to me that the drafters of the bill, the interim government, did not understand that for people who work independently, neither income nor clients appear on the first day immediately after the end of the emergency or quarantine. I would have voted against this law, but, thank God, my colleagues have offered to extend the payment of benefits for at least one month and the deferral of interest, arrears and interest, ”said J. Sabatauskas.

Tom Tomilin, a member of the Peasant Group, said that the one-month commitment was correct, but saw contradictions in the rhetoric of the new rulers.

“The one-month commitment is correct, but I notice a contradiction in the rhetoric of the rulers: on the one hand, there is a place for certain categories of people, such as retirees, to have enough and, on the other, to increase generous spending. If there is money in your opinion, then do not apply double standards to other areas where money is already provided, ”said Tomilinas.

The amendment attached to the State Social Security Law decided to create conditions for companies to defer contributions to Sodra without interest and interest, but only if the government imposes restrictions on economic activities by introducing local or global quarantine and the company It is included in the list of victims of quarantine restrictions published by the State Tax Inspectorate. . It was also agreed to waive the possibility of postponing the deferral of payments for another two months after the end of the quarantine.

The law will go into effect on January 1. The laws have not yet been signed by the president.
