The elderly woman of the LVŽS Aušrinė Norkienė faction, whose candidacy for the Seimas did not receive support for the post of Vice President until the beginning of her job, hopes that the Spokesperson of the Seimas, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, will keep her promise to cover up the conflict that arose when no “peasant” appeared on the board of the Seimas.
The president of Seimas has mentioned that it is being considered that another representative of the opposition could be appointed vice president of Parliament.
According to Eltai, the “peasant” said that she is still waiting for the call from V. Čmilytė-Nielsen, because she said she is convinced that the “ball” and the initiative in this case are on the side of the president of Seimas.
“We are no longer coordinating anything with the President, I am waiting for her call. I think tomorrow, in any case, there will be a session of the Seimas, and he has returned from isolation. I think in any case the conversation will take place, and what it will be, I really don’t know, ”said A. Norkienė.
When asked if there was too great a risk that the coordination of the candidacy in the last day or even in the last minutes was not constructive and that it might not be possible to reconcile the candidate again, A. Norkienė emphasized that he thought that the authorities should show initiative.
“I would like to remind you that the group wants to offer, but we have something to offer. I think this is a proposal from the Seimas Spokesperson, so the initiative and the ball are on their side,” he said.
“It just came to our knowledge then. I think everything will be resolved calmly,” added the oldest of the group of “peasants.”
The LVŽS faction has reported that it has chosen by secret ballot what it will propose to the vice presidents, but does not reveal the names of the candidate. It is said publicly that he is Jonas Jarutis, whom the party president Ramūnas Karbauskis has already tried unsuccessfully to offer to these positions. However, A. Norkienė stated that he did not want to reveal this surname publicly.
“When there is no one to offer, I don’t see any point in talking about it,” he said, noting that he hoped the rulers would be “more cultural” on the issue Thursday.
If an additional position of Vice President appeared on the Seimas Board and if it was filled by the representative proposed by the “peasants”, A. Norkienė did not hide himself, this could be the beginning of the “overload” of relations between the LVŽS and the governing relationships.
“It just came to our notice then. I really would like this to be the beginning from which we will move forward. We are determined to do so, but at the same time we understand that the frame of mind must be mutual,” he said.
J. Razma lacks initiative from LVŽS
However, for the conservative and the first vice president of the Seimas Jurgis Razma, such passivity of the “peasants” and waiting for the initiative of the rulers was strange. The politician said the issue will be discussed at Thursday’s meeting, but, the politicians stressed, the initiative must be shown by the “peasants” seeking the position of vice president.
“This project is theoretically on the agenda. However, much will depend on the Grupo Verde Campesino, whether they show initiative to speak with the Spokesperson of the Seimas or present their proposals. We envisage a place for such a project on the agenda,” said J. Razma to Eltai.
According to him, until the “peasants” themselves show initiative and officially make clear what they intend to offer to the deputies of the Seimas, it is difficult to talk about whether this week can help the conflict between the LVZS opposition and the ruler be in history .
“If someone speaks, it is not the official position of the group. However, the representatives of the faction must meet, at least contact the Speaker of the Seimas by phone and present their position, and not talk about the fact that there is some mysterious presentation, which is not published, but which everyone knows, ”said the Conservative.
ELTA recalls that the fact that the “peasant” faction remained without representation in the parliamentary board in the Seimas elected in October caused strong friction between LVŽS and the rulers. After the Seimas appointed representatives of the opposition Labor Party and the Social Democrats vice-presidents, the rulers said the “peasants” could join the parliamentary board after electing an opposition leader. However, such a proposal was treated by the “peasants” as blackmail and a disregard for the rights of the opposition. Over time, this became a precondition for LVŽS president Ramūnas Karbauskis to withdraw from the Seimas, claiming that he was doing so to guarantee the rights of the “peasant” faction in the Seimas.
