On Monday, the Statistics Department reported that a total of 505 people died from the coronavirus in the country. 19 new deaths were reported Tuesday, but the total number of deaths from the disease rose to 519.

“Information on deaths is corrected if we receive a correction from medical institutions. As we have said many times, medical institutions decide the reasons why a person died,” said Justina Petravičienė, representative of NVSC, on Tuesday.

“If the experts provide different information and indicate that the cause of death of the person is different, the statistics will be adjusted accordingly: the person is considered to be infected with COVID-19 but dies for other reasons,” he added.

Since the start of the pandemic, 62,000 people have been infected with COVID-19 in the country. 515 people, 46 thousand. 665 – still sick, 15 thousand. 77 – recovered.
