The previously innocent man came to the attention of police during a pre-trial investigation by officials to find out the cause of the young woman’s death.
An in-depth investigation into the circumstances of the incident, the findings of specialists and the testimony of witnesses revealed that the girl had died of intoxication with a psychotropic substance (LSD).
The data obtained during the pre-trial investigation gave reasonable grounds to believe that the eighteen-year-old had purchased psychotropic substances from a 32-year-old Kaunas resident.
According to the investigation data, the defendant in 2019. On the night of December 31, he illegally acquired and possessed a psychotropic substance, lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), in order to distribute those substances. The man soon fulfilled his intentions by illegally handing them over to two girls, including an 18-year-old who died that same night.
The person accused of illicit possession of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances with a view to their distribution or illicit possession of very large quantities of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances may be punished with imprisonment of two to eight years.
The investigation was conducted by officials from the Criminal Police Investigation Board of the Kaunas County Police Chief Commissariat, and was led by the Prosecutor of the First Prosecution Division of the Kaunas Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
The criminal case was transferred to the Kaunas Chamber of the Kaunas District Court.
