The Lithuanians started this qualifying competition with a crushing defeat for the Belgians, and only after a dogged fight did they break the Czech basketball players.

In the duel with the Danes, the Lithuanians did not stop Gabriel Lundberg, who scored 28 points and hit the most important throw-in of the match, with 18.9 seconds to go. He burst into the penalty area and scored two points despite Jonas Mačiulis’ defensive defense.

After a short break, Mantas Kalnietis could have closed the game in the 80th minute, but his shot hit the post.

The Danes led 73:67, but the Lithuanians ran 7: 0 and rebalanced the result. However, Jonas Zahore soon scored two points from a foul, took a penalty and the Danes took the lead again – 76:74.

Jonas Mačiulis saved the Lithuanian attack caught on the other side of the square by hitting a difficult colon in the last second of the attack. Still, the last word went to Lundberg and the Danish national team.

“We knew he was the only one to play and we didn’t stop,” said Tomas Dimša, who scored 15 points after the game.

After winning Vilnius, the Danes probably celebrated the biggest basketball victory in their history. After the duel, they posed for selfies in the middle of the field.

On Sunday, our team will fight the Belgian basketball players, who crushed the Czech team 90:62 in Vilnius on Friday. The Belgians, who have won all three games, are the only leaders of the group.

Lithuanian national team: Deividas Gailius 16, Tomas Dimša 15, Marekas Blaževičius 10, Regimantas Miniotas 8.

Danish national team: Gabriel Lundberg 28 (seventh chamber), Mathias Bak Christensen 13.
