The educator also points out that in high school, French education has other important aspects: teachers communicate with children in a calm tone, encourage positive behavior, praise children, and suppress unacceptable behavior, indicating limits and consequences.

“Positive discipline can consist of many different means, such as face-to-face communication, sharing experiences, explaining why behaving one way or another is wrong and what the consequences may be. For example, if one child is prone to violence, even the most innocent, it is simply important to explain that the other is painful and uncomfortable at the time, but there is no way to respond the same. When we communicate with the student as equals, the child does not feel weaker and this motivates him to respect the expressed opinion and to follow the rules. The most important thing for a child is a trustworthy, long-term relationship based on trust with an adult, ”explains Jérôme Decarnin.

The essential advice is not to be emotional.

According to education specialist J. Decarnin, punishment only intimidates, causes anger, and has no long-term positive effect: it can scare a child, cause anger, and destroy confidence in adults. Therefore, it is very important to consistently follow positive discipline everywhere, both at school and at home.

“Any stronger word, or even a slap in the face, can turn a child against himself. In moments of weakness, when anger takes over, it is best to keep a cool mind, stay calm, and control the situation with smart actions, such as invite the children to their room, “advises Jérôme Decarnin.

Jérôme Decarnin also emphasizes the importance of taking time and learning to maintain your inner peace, even in difficult situations when things seem complicated. The well-being of the whole family and the proper development of the child depend on it. In case of difficulties, you should calm down first and only then calm the child.
