Positive discipline is a key feature of education.

According to a press release, one of the main responsibilities of parents is to teach their children to distinguish between appropriate and acceptable behavior and what is not. According to Jérôme Decarnin, an education specialist at the Lycée International de Vilnius in France, the success of raising a child is important not only for the parents, but also for the educational institution.

“Proper parenting is based on positive discipline. It is a common model of education in France that introduces the child to appropriate behavior, making it possible to distinguish between what is good and what is not. Discipline helps the child to follow the rules valid not only at school, but also outside, for example, at home, in the family, “explains J. Decarnin.

The educator also points out that in high school, French education has other important aspects: teachers communicate with children in a calm tone, encourage positive behavior, praise children, and suppress unacceptable behavior, indicating limits and consequences.

“Positive discipline can consist of many different means, such as face-to-face communication, sharing experiences, explaining why behaving one way or another is wrong and what the consequences may be. For example, if one child is prone to violence, even the most innocent, it is simply important to explain that the other is painful and uncomfortable at the time, but there is no way to respond the same. When we communicate with the student as equals, the child does not feel weaker and this motivates him to respect the expressed opinion and to follow the rules. The most important thing for a child is a trustworthy, long-term relationship based on trust with an adult, ”explains Jérôme Decarnin.

The essential advice is not to be emotional.

According to education specialist J. Decarnin, punishment only intimidates, causes anger, and has no long-term positive effect: it can scare a child, cause anger, and destroy confidence in adults. Therefore, it is very important to consistently follow positive discipline everywhere, both at school and at home.

A Frenchman working as a teacher in Lithuania mentioned a mistake that many make: He recounted how the French raise their children.

“Any stronger word, or even a slap in the face, can turn a child against himself. In moments of weakness, when anger takes over, it is best to keep a cool mind, stay calm, and control the situation with smart actions, such as invite the children to their room, “advises Jérôme Decarnin.

Jérôme Decarnin also emphasizes the importance of taking time and learning to maintain your inner peace, even in difficult situations when things seem complicated. The well-being of the whole family and the proper development of the child depend on it. In case of difficulties, you should calm down first and only then calm the child.

Child behavior correction methods.

A teacher at the Lyceum International de Vilnius in France says she often has to deal with confused parents who don’t know how to properly deal with the child’s unwanted behavior.

“We have to see situations in which parents feel helpless because they do not know enough ways to correct their children’s behavior. In such situations, school education specialists are ready to help, discuss existing problems and discover the most appropriate solutions for the problem: to form an educational model ”, emphasizes the education specialist.

Mr. Decarnin points out that children’s education and upbringing is, in a sense, self-education, changing their habits, training the inner self. To educate another person qualitatively, first of all, the parents themselves must want to cultivate their patience and thus grow together with the child.
