According to the president of the Seimas Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, answers are expected on the restrictions and requirements that are imposed on citizens, including members of the Seimas.
“We have several questions that need to be clarified: about the test procedure, about self-isolation, about its duration,” said the Speaker of Parliament at the meeting of the Seimas Board.
Seimas Vice President Paulius Saudargas wants to know how the right of Seimas members in self-isolation to participate in sessions and the right to vote should be guaranteed.
Seimas First Vice President Jurgis Razma believes that the question of guaranteeing constitutional right, the possibility of voting for Seimas members in isolation, should be resolved immediately. “I believe that there is no constitutional possibility of restricting that right to a member of the Seimas in such a case,” said J. Razma.
In his opinion, the Seimas Board should propose changes in the procedure that governs the management of the epidemiological situation to A. Veryga, who is acting minister.
“If that situation is not resolved, there is a danger that anyone, any member of the Seimas, may receive such information that they must isolate themselves and then explain in a day, two or three, why and on what basis.” I think we should raise that issue tomorrow when talking to the NVSC representatives, “said V. Čmilytė-Nielsen.
On Thursday, the Board of Seimas is scheduled to hold two sessions. One is scheduled for an interview with A. Veryga and representatives of NVSC, and the other for the legalization of telework by Seimas.
