The judge allowed the opening of the Titanic: what will be looked for there?

The Titanic sank after colliding with an iceberg in 1912. As everyone knows, this was the first luxury steamboat trip. The Titanic had a car, several works of art, many letters, packages, some furniture and all kinds of items.

The Titanic itself is, of course, very valuable, although almost nothing is left now. You can’t talk about being raised, there is simply nothing to raise. Some items were removed from the Titanic, but the ship itself was not touched too much, as it was a mass grave.

So why was it decided to let the sunken Titanic open? For the sake of science, of course. The Titanic was a Guglielmo Marconi radio telegraph. Marconi is one of the most prominent scientists and inventors, who has been pushed in the shadow of Alexander Graham Bell, Heinrich Hertz and other scientists who have developed communications.

Although radio waves have been studied before, the researchers said they could not spread over greater distances. In trying to transmit information over long distances, it was thought that the waves would simply dissipate in space.

The earth is round, so how can radio waves travel to the other side of the horizon? In 1901 Marconi sent a message from England to Canada and demonstrated that it was possible.

Marconi’s Titanike radio telegraph was a true innovation. It allowed the ship to communicate with other ships and shore stations. It also allowed help to be called, though it simply did not help the Titanic. That radio telegraph is a real historical asset and historians would love to see it. On the other hand, not only historians but also companies would like to get that telegraph out.

What is the problem? Although the judge explained that this can be done, a few more permits will still be needed. And investment. Marconi’s radio telegraph is now somewhere in the belly of the Titanic at a depth of almost 4 km. In addition, the entire team occupies almost the entire room.

Although the process has already begun, it is unlikely that there will be a company to finance it, as such work will be very costly, cause public outrage, and will probably never bear fruit. Especially since the Marconi radio telegraph is not a lost technology, we know how it looks and how it works.

Guglielmo Marconi himself, by the way, testified in court during the Titanic investigation. He explained how the radio telegraph works and why it did not help in this case.
