This was confirmed by Paulius Žeimys, representative of the president of the Seimas Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, in the SNB.
“The President of the Seimas will send this letter to all the members of the Seimas for information. If this topic will be included in the agenda of the plenary session of the Seimas on November 24, it will be decided by the Conference of Elders of the Seimas that will meet in the tomorrow before the session, ”said P. Žeimys.
The appeal was also confirmed by the Attorney General’s Office on Monday night.
“According to the provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure, criminal proceedings in court are not possible without the permission of the competent authority to prosecute a person,” the prosecution said in a statement.
The legal immunity of V. Gapšis must be waived so that the court can continue to investigate the case of political corruption.
“Darbietis” V. Gapšys was elected a member of the Seimas during the elections held in October.
Former Liberal leader Eligijus Masiulis and former Seimas Liberal member Šarūnas Gustainis have also been indicted in the pending case before the Vilnius Regional Court. Former MP Gintaras Steponavičius is charged with abuse in the absence of signs of bribery.
Raimondas Kurlianskis, the former vice president of MG Baltic, is accused of giving bribes to politicians to make decisions that benefit the company.
The charges in the case were also made against MG Baltic himself, the Labor Party and the Liberal Movement. The defendants do not admit guilt, they say the police investigation was carried out in a biased manner.
