Čmilytė-Nielsen: We will return to the question of the deputy of the Seimas for “peasants” when Karbauskis leaves

“Once it is clear who will take the lead in the withdrawal of Mr. Karbauskis from the Lithuanian Greens and Peasants faction, it will be possible to resume talks and find a solution to ensure that a representative of the main opposition faction is at the board’s general decision-making table, “Delfi TV said on Monday.

It seems that the rulers will not take the opportunity to keep R. Karbauskis in the Seimas, asking him not to resign as a member of parliament. The latter argued that it was a request from the rulers that could force him to change last week’s decision.

According to V. Čmilytė-Nielsen, although there is no one hundred percent guarantee that R. Karbauskis will keep the promise given, it still seems like everything, he continued that on Tuesday the leader of the LVŽS will respond to the mandate of a member of the Seimas.

“You can never be sure with Mr. Karbauskis, but if I correctly understand his statements, which have been repeated many times, tomorrow he intends to resign from the mandate of a member of the Seimas. I have no other information, ”said the president of Seimas.

The liberal did not specify whether Aušrinė Norkienė, a “peasant” who had not received the support of the parliamentarians, would have a seat on the board of the Seimas.

“I would not like to talk about specific candidacies at this stage,” said the president of Seimas.

R. Karbauskis announced his decision to resign from the mandate of a member of the Seimas following the meeting of the LVŽS faction held on Thursday. The leader of the largest opposition faction argued that the rulers allegedly disregarded the opinion of the opposition, ignored their rights and did not listen to the opinion of the opposition.

On the same day, it was decided that A. Norkienė would become the eldest of the faction. His candidacy for vice presidents of Seimas did not receive approval last week. When the Social Democrat Julius Sabatauskas was later appointed to replace Seimas, the conflict between the ruling authorities and the opposition intensified.
