Justas Jankauskas, director of the capital club, confirmed to the website BasketNews.lt the announcement made on the JBR program that a 28-year-old resident of Klaipėda who had suffered a broken finger will have to lie down on the operating table this Tuesday.
The forward was injured in the winning FIBA Champions League match on November 10 with Strasbourg IG. Initially, the fracture was expected to heal when the finger was placed in the longitudinal socket, but after the 10-day period, this did not work and treatment would require a surgical procedure.
Butkevičius won’t play for 3-5 weeks after her.
The team leader will miss the second LKL match with Kaunas “Žalgiris” (December 6) and a major Champions League battle with Riga VEF (December 8).
In mid-November, Rytas also announced Rokas Gusztis’s shoulder injury, which left him out of place for two weeks.
Martynas Echodas, who suffered a fracture in early October, did not play for a month.
When the team discovered the first case of COVID-19 last Friday, Rytas was quarantined through the FIBA national team window.
Butkevičius is averaging 10.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 11.9 utility points this season.
In the FIBA Champions League, his scores reach 9 points, 5 rebounds and 1.5 interceptions and 1.5 assists.
