French with coronavirus: “I felt like I had brought home trouble”

V. Pranckietis regrets that the Seimas is only now beginning to legalize telecommuting in parliament, although he proposed it in the spring, but Seimas members rejected such an idea.

V. Pranckietis currently receives treatment at home and joins his colleagues remotely. The politician is trying to stay away from family members who tested negative for coronavirus.

After learning he was infected with coronavirus on Tuesday, he says he felt terrible for the family.

“I felt like I had brought problems home. I felt very unhappy and had to admit that the family was suffering at the same time. It just happened because of my work.

From the day we found out that my colleague was testing positive, immediately and my entire family was isolated, we sat alone and followed those rules. Everybody tested and no one else in the family passed a positive test, ”said V. Pranckietis.

On Tuesday, he discovered that he had Covid-19. How did you feel at the beginning and now?

A bit thighs, I had a little headache and probably had such symptoms for about half a day, and then those symptoms seemed to go away. Now I just have to get to that moment.

I drank a lot of water. One day I slept all the way and everything got better. My wife and I are now in only two houses, we can be far enough apart.

In the spring, I repeated that my age was such that I was at risk for age. It’s definitely not something to talk about, you just have to be careful, but you failed.

Due to the coronavirus, the Seimas management cancels two sessions and imposes additional restrictions. What you think?

In the spring, I suggested that things be done so that the plenary sessions would be held every two weeks. In March, I proposed that we sit more closely one week, not next week, in the House, working only on committees and commissions remotely.

After that, after taking the tests, we will return to the room for one more week. I think this type of work every two weeks would be worth it to make it clear if there is any infection.

Why didn’t this happen in the spring?

Perhaps an additional electoral factor should be added. They all wanted to name more beautiful to their constituents and tried to say that we have to unite with the nation, we have to be patriots.

But my idea was simple: we need to keep the Seimas efficient and effective, not look for ways not to protect it. That’s one of the reasons.

Was the ruler or the opposition opposed?

There were strange speeches on both sides. But I will not specify. I think now everyone will have to walk away from such speeches and, after all, they will have to take and approach things quite naturally.

Draft laws are currently being prepared to move into remote Seimas work. How do you rate?

I think this is the right move, just a long time ago. 8 months ago I sent projects of this type to work remotely or mixed.

Now what about the fact that he was right too soon, and now we have to do it anyway? Although there was good resistance at the time and that project was not even presented.

How do you think the Seimas could work more?

Teleworking is needed on the success of committees, commissions and board. A plenary session can work in the same way. That option would be used in cases where it was not possible to physically assemble. When it is possible to physically convene, it will be the members of the Seimas who will meet physically.

The work could be mixed and more remote. But I think it would make sense for such a mixed meeting, because I think the people in the room themselves, who sit rarely, should, as far as possible, lead the meeting. But it will probably be necessary to consider how the lawyers will formulate that proposal.

You mentioned the example of Latvia. How is work going there?

Already in the spring, their individual factions began to meet in separate faction facilities. It is said that if one faction had a chimney, the others would have no contact. And we could do the same.

After that, he started voting remotely. Its president told me that the first vote lasted at least 5 minutes. It was complicated until he counted the votes. After that, he found out and a normal vote was held.

Parliamentary fears were heard in the Seimas that other people might lobby and vote when they were working remotely. What do you think about that?

When working remotely, always sit in front of your computer and in front of your camera. It is always possible not only to press a button to vote in this way, but also to check in the minutes if my vote is actually counted the way I voted.

For someone else, if this person is sitting in front of the camera, something else should come: he’s here before the crime.

Ramūnas Karbauskis

Ramūnas Karbauskis announced his resignation from Seimas. On Tuesday, the CEC is scheduled to decide on the revocation of the mandate. How do you see that step of a peasant leader?

Lithuania would feel freer thanks to this choice.

In your opinion, after the departure of R. Karbauskis, can the Seimas and the peasant faction suffer?

I think the Seimas will work more harmoniously. There has always been a person who dictates something, intrigues someone.

Now, due to the distance, there would be fewer sudden reactions or actions. Now it should be based on logic, not just to destroy something.

I believe that the peasants should now decide on their president during the congress. You should probably count how many of those elections have been “won” after the famous slogans. How many votes have been lost.

Now this choice. Everything is lost all the time. I think these people should understand that their train is getting very low. One must understand that this is certainly not the activity of all of them, but it depends a lot on one person.

R. Karbauskis said that he could change his mind if the rulers asked him to stay and give the peasants at least some leadership positions in the Seimas. What does its movement show?

There is the Napoleon syndrome, I will not comment further.
