The man who wrote the complaint to the Plungė District Court was not allowed to enter the courtroom as the mask was no longer worn. Judge Virginijus Gedeikis, who examined the complaint in accordance with the written procedure, did not see anything criminal in the actions of the police. And here, V. Bertašis will have to thin his wallet.

The Plungė District Court found V. Bertašius guilty of administrative misconduct and imposed sanctions on him. The former ethics professor did not show that he was not punished for anything, although when he went to court he claimed that he had not seen a law that required him to wear a mask.

The court ruled that no maximum fine had been imposed: a fine of 1,000 euros was imposed on the man for not wearing the mask alone, and an additional fine of 115 euros was imposed for failure to comply with the request of the police officers. The court accumulated the fines instead of adding them together, so the final fine imposed was set at 1,000 euros. It is true that V. Bertašius still has the right to demand more.

“A ruling of the Plungė District Court may be appealed to the Klaipėda Regional Court through the Plungė Chamber of the Plungė District Court within 20 calendar days from the date of dispatch or issue of a copy (copy) of the ruling, “recalls the court.

Delfi recalls that the man received the fines on November 1, when he and his wife went to Plung Hospital, because, as he said, he was interested in a group of people filming hospitals and trying to show that the fear of the COVID-19 virus is unfounded.

“The filmmakers from Palanga, the Klaipėda hospitals were filming, and it was through Plungė. My wife and I had nothing to do on Sunday, November 1, let’s just say maybe we’ll go. We got to that hospital, we looked, four police cars were driving around, we were thinking about what was happening there and we turned around, ”the man told the court on November 13.

According to V. Bertašius, the officers treated him roughly and forcibly placed him in an official car. The incident was filmed by people who drove to the hospitals and filmed through the windows what the doctors were doing and what the hospital wards looked like. They defended V. Bertašiai and assured that both the use of masks is a decision that violates human rights and the actions of the officials are illegal and excessive. The video shows how the agents had to spend a lot of time to lock a man in an official car. And closed he knocked on the door.

The people who supported the man seeking justice in court interested the police. The arriving officials warned a woman about the organization of the meeting, as there were about 20 people in court and, according to the requirements announced during the quarantine, no more than five people can navigate. Two more men did not wear masks that day and received fines.
