“Unfortunately, this time the COVID-19 test is positive. We have to radically redesign the work plans and close the house again. My colleagues from the faction received negative responses, but I will join the ranks of the sick,” he announced the president of Seimas on Facebook.

He said he had no symptoms for the entire week or Thursday.

“I know there will be different opinions on my work this week. I acted as recommended by the Seimas Chancellery: in all meetings I was wearing a mask, I kept my distance, I avoided shaking hands. I adhered to maximum security. I worked because today we can perfectly see the situation in parliament, ”said V. Čmilytė-Nielsen.

The coronavirus was recently approved by several parliamentarians, which has led to discussions about the work of the Seimas during its sessions.

The Seimas Spokesperson also hinted that there are still many unanswered questions in the Seimas: On Friday I will report in more detail on the measures taken, which I believe, if not removed, will at least significantly reduce tensions with the opposition. “

Will work remotely

Seimas President Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen will work remotely after she is diagnosed with coronavirus. “The Speaker will work remotely and the Seimas will work as usual, except of course those who had close contact. The office of the head of parliament is isolated,” Paulius Žeimys, the representative of the head of parliament, told BNS.

The first vice president of the Seimas Jurgis Razma declared that he was ready to replace the head of parliament if necessary. J.Razma said he did not have close contact with the Seimas Speaker and does not yet know how many Seimas members will have to isolate themselves.

“Now the question may arise of how much communication we have had with the President, there has not been long communication, I will run fast, I will ask, with masks, everything according to the requirements. I hope I don’t get a positive test, I will probably have to do them, think about it, see if there were any closer contacts, but it seems to me that there were none, “Razma told BNS.
