Informed before the meeting
Eugenijus Gentvilas, the eldest of the group, told BNS that Glaveck had informed him of his resignation before the meeting and that the resignation could be due to the politician not receiving the promised post of vice chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee.
“I asked him if he had any criticism,” he said. “No, I don’t have them.” As an elder of the group, I have nothing to do because his will is expressed, he does not automatically remain a member of the group. I don’t know where he’s going, we just had that kind of conversation. Anyway, in the morning he found out that he would not get the post of Vice Chairman of the Seimas Budget and Finance Committee, it may have to do with that. He said there were other factions when he found out. Although the faction does not share the vice president positions here, “said E. Gentvilas.
He says he does not know whether K. Glaveck will withdraw from the liberal movement itself.
The ruling faction of the Liberal Movement will have 11 members after Glaveck’s resignation.
K. Glaveckas has been elected to the Seimas for the seventh term, has been elected to parliament on a four-year hiatus since 1992 and, since 2008, with the Liberal Movement. He has worked full time on the Budget and Finance Committee, having been Vice President of the Committee for the last term.
