After meeting with the president on Wednesday, prime minister candidate I. Šimonytė announced the names of the people proposed for the post of ministers. The politician appointed almost all the candidates for positions in the ministries. The coalition was not coordinated, as he stated, only the candidacy for agriculture ministers remained.
According to S. Krėpšta, some of the surnames discussed by the president during meetings with I. Šimonyte did not appear in the list of candidates for heads of ministry published on Wednesday.
“The consultations and conversations, of course, did not start yesterday, they started earlier. The candidates were identified both publicly and in interviews. Some earlier, others later. Some of the names on which the inquiries were carried out did not appear on the list yesterday. The process will continue and both the advisers and the president will meet with the candidates. We will also talk to the social partners, ”the president’s adviser told LRT Radio.
When asked if the president reserves the right not to nominate candidates who do not believe him, S. Krėpšta replied that candidates for positions in the ministries will first be evaluated according to their professionalism.
“The president will pay close attention to each and every candidate, because the main thing on which there is a very strong consensus with the esteemed Ingrida Šimonyte is that we must focus on goals and changes in key areas and find the best people to lead ministries towards positive change, “he added. It is rude to ensure that the Presidency will evaluate each candidate in isolation from his emotions.
“In order to be able to say firmly if the nominees will actually be able to do it, we need to know each of the candidates in more detail. We will be guided by arguments and emotions will be on our side, ”he said.
“The president will give his final verdict after taking a series of measures. There will be very detailed meetings with the candidates,” added G. Nausėda’s adviser.
