Trump announced on Twitter the removal of Chris Krebs, director of the Cyber Security and Infrastructure Agency (CISA), and said the decision “would go into effect immediately.”
CISA has previously stated that “the November 3 elections were the safest in the history of the United States.” Trump, who was running for re-election at the time and had yet to admit to losing to Biden, repeatedly claimed that there had been many irregularities during the voting and recount process without providing any proof.
“Chris Krebs’ recent statement on the security of the 2020 elections was extremely inaccurate, as there were huge irregularities and fraud,” Trump wrote on Twitter.

According to media reports, Capt. Krebs told friends last week that he expected to be fired. On Tuesday, he appears to have confirmed this message in a message on his personal Twitter account.
