Karbauskis is angry about Jarutis’ candidacy: he is simply considered a fool

Julius Sabatauskas, representative of the Social Democrats, was appointed vice-president of the Seimas instead of the representative of the largest opposition faction.

“We already saw a similar performance last Friday. <..> And today when she (V. Čmilytė – Nielsen) came to our group and we asked her if it made sense for us to nominate another candidate, and she said yes. We in the group decided very quickly. And here it took a few minutes, we went back and I approached her in the corridor, I say the last name, and we see that the candidate does not appear at all. The president of Seimas did not know the name of our candidate and another candidate was entered. So who needed all this acting here? We just consider ourselves stupid, “said R. Karbauskis.

According to R. Karbauskis, if V. Čmilytė – Nielsen had said that it had already been decided, and she had chosen to provide J. Sabatauskas, the peasants probably would not have opposed it and would not even have offered the name of their candidate.

“I am leaving, she is already sitting in a chair, I offer, I go to my chair and another candidate is already registered,” said R. Karbauskis.

It affirms that the “peasants” will go to the Court in the near future to clarify whether the interpretations of the Constitutional Court on the proportionality of the representation of the opposition in the Seimas Board are of a recommended or binding nature.

The Board of the Seimas, more precisely, the election of the Vice Presidents of the Seimas, is already turning into a sham. Last Friday, only two of the six vice presidents were approved: conservative Jurgis Razma and “employee” Andrius Mazuronis. The latter’s candidacy was a surprise not only for the opposition but also, as he himself stated, for the candidate himself.

On Tuesday, Seimas President V. Čmilytė – Nielsen put Aušrinė Norkienė, the “peasant” candidate, to a vote, but did not get enough votes to pass. The reigning conservatives Paulius Saudargas, Radvilė Morkūnaitė – Mikulėnienė and the representative of the Freedom Party Vytautas Mitalas were confirmed as other vice presidents.

After such a vote, V. Čmilytė-Nielsen adjourned the session and went out to negotiate with the opposition “peasant” and Social Democratic factions on the nomination of future candidates.

And although the “peasants” landed and presented the name of another J. Narutis in place of A. Norkienė, the latter did not suit Nielsen either.

The election procedure for the vice-presidents of the Seimas received a great response from opinion leaders.

Well-known political commentator Rimvydas Valatka called A. Norkienė’s disapproval on his Facebook profile as the blink of an eye stupid, childish and unnecessary.

“The majority of the Seimas in the elections to the vice presidents of the Seimas benefited the man from Karbauskis, Norkienė. Yes, Norkienė is a political zero, but such a transformation is a stupid, childish and unnecessary blink, although it could probably be called a small revenge for the four-year terror from Karbauskis – Širinskienė ”, writes R. Valatka.

According to the political commentator, such revenge will not benefit and, in doing so, the ruling coalition of the Seimas does not respect itself.

“What are the benefits of that revenge? None. There is no sign that the opposition is seen through the eyes of a wolf, which we have seen particularly vividly in the last four years. There was hope that the conservatives and liberals would show respect for the defeated enemy. That respect is needed not only and not so much by the enemy, but by the majority of Seimas himself. It is respect for yourself. A signal to the public that politics may be different is that it is unresponsive, at least in cases where fierceness doesn’t really change anything, ”says R. Valatka.

Social Democrat Julius Sabatauskas was confirmed as vice president of the Seimas during a secret ballot on Tuesday night. There were 77 members of the Seimas in favor of his candidacy, 31 against and 11 abstentions. Two ballots were considered invalid.
