“It just came to our attention then. Especially considering the fact that the largest opposition faction is not very flexible – it is one, but more importantly – it has elected the leader of the opposition, it will be represented in the Board of the Seimas in any case “, V. Čmilytė Nielsen.

The politician did not reveal who will stand for this position.

“I will register the nominations soon. I heard what the opposition says, yesterday I met with Ramūnas Karbauskis and Algirdas Sys, also with the representatives of the position, and I will soon announce my decision,” he said.

V.Čmilytė-Nielsen stated that the candidates will be selected according to the support given to them.

“My choice is mainly related to the desire for the candidates to receive as much support as possible. I also listen, of course, to representatives of the opposition, who are generally not very flexible and want very specific candidates. By evaluating all this information and speaking with other factions, I will make a decision, ”said the Seimas Spokesperson.

A.Norkienė says his candidacy will be submitted

Later, A.Norkienė herself visited his office at the Seimas. The LVŽS faction did not change its mind about his candidacy, although V.Čmilytė-Nielsen asked to find another candidate.

“It just came to our attention then. Yes, I am a candidate from our faction,” A. Norkienė told reporters.

When asked if the president of the Seimas would appoint her deputies on Tuesday, A. Norkienė confirmed it.

“Yes, she is willing to provide,” said the politician.

He said that he understood that the president of Seimas did not want to start the work of Seimas from appointments that could be left without the support of the majority.

“In part, I understood it”, assured a representative of LVŽS.

“I think it is a democracy, it is an opposition group that nominates a candidate by decision of the group. This, I believe, is the highest expression of democracy and must be taken as a decision of the people, ”said A. Norkien.

V.Čmilytė-Nielsen should appoint four more vice-presidents of the Seimas during the Seimas session on Tuesday.

According to the Statute of the Seimas, the head of parliament cannot have more than seven deputies. However, the coalition partners have agreed that there will be six, at least two of them must be representatives of the opposition.
