A.Norkienė has not presented himself to the vice-presidents of the Seimas: a war has started, which we do not declare

Before the first session of the Seimas last Friday, the opposition factions, including the LVŽS, presented their candidates for vice-presidents of the Seimas to V. Čmilyte-Nielsen.

“On Friday morning, we invited the future president of the Seimas of the opposition faction and we told him our agreements, how we imagine how the opposition should work, who the candidates could be. She listened to us a lot ” 15 minutes said A.Norkienė.

That day he did not present himself to the vice presidents of the Seimas; this place was entrusted to the “employee” Andrius Mazuronis.

Future Seimas spokesman V.Čmilytė-Nielsen, who appeared before MPs on Friday, promised to seek consensus and thus develop the political culture.

“I do not believe that problem solving is possible through conflict. I am convinced that a sustainable result can only be achieved through consensus and reconciliation of different positions. Sometimes it takes a lot of time and effort, but with a broader perspective. in mind, it is always worth it. Basically, it is an investment in a political culture, whose meaning for the life of the State and society is difficult to overestimate, “said the politician.

A.Norkienė stated that these are just words that have come to nothing.

Understand that one is words and works show something else.

“When the Speaker of the Seimas hears the desire to fight for a new high political culture, to do everything differently, he understands that one is words and works show something else.

Four years ago, we didn’t even think that esteemed Irena Degutienė should be rejected (Candidates nominated by the opposition conservatives, who later became vice president of the Seimas – 15 minutes) candidacy, to say that it does not suit us, give us another. We have accepted this as an expression of democracy, which is the largest opposition group and is giving its candidate. <...> We expected the same, but it turns out it is possible anyway, “A. Norkienė was surprised.

According to the politician, the Seimas should have been allowed to decide on his candidacy on Friday.

“The Seimas would have expressed their will,” said A. Norkienė.

Does this mean that there was a war between the rulers and the opposition?

“Interestingly, we did not announce it. There may be some frustration with this: they realize that we did much better for them than those who came declaring that they would do better. That is disappointing,” taught A. Norkienė.

His colleague in the faction, LVŽS leader Ramūnas Karbauskis, issued an ultimatum after the Seimas president’s decision and the Seimas vote: the faction will not seek any other candidate for Seimas vice presidents.

“It is obvious that only Aušrinė Norkienė can be blamed for her loyalty to LVŽS, but if this is a reason for not voting for her, no other LVŽS candidate will vote. Therefore, LVŽS will no longer nominate any other Vice President candidate of the Seimas, of which the ruling majority is informed, ”the politician wrote on Facebook.

He said he did not believe that V.Čmilytė-Nielsien would still offer to nominate A.Norkienė to his deputies, and the Seimas would agree to do so.

“I don’t believe in that scenario, because I don’t understand the performance, which took place at Seimas on Friday,” said R. Karbauskis.

A.Norkienė herself said she did not know if the faction would nominate her candidacy again. This is said to be decided on Tuesday.

“I am a member of the team, that is the decision of the group. I don’t really live with personal ambitions, that’s definitely not my goal, “assured A. Norkienė, adding that he is inclined to seek compromises.

“We will try to talk about it in the group as well. I am very inclined to compromise and seek solutions that are acceptable to the ruling majority thanks to us,” said A. Norkienė.

V.Čmilytė-Nielsen should appoint four more vice-presidents of the Seimas during the Seimas session on Tuesday. The Seimas spokeswoman suggested to the “peasants” that they look for another candidate, because A. Norkienė, according to her, would probably not receive enough support.

I think there is a risk that this candidate will not get enough support.

“I am talking to all the factions and I think there is a risk that this candidate will not get enough support,” V. Čmilytė-Nielsen previously told reporters.

According to the Statute of the Seimas, the head of parliament cannot have more than seven deputies. However, the coalition partners have agreed that there will be six, at least two of them must be representatives of the opposition.
