Selija’s vocalist Silvija Pankūnaitė, who recently had a daughter, presents a new song: I understand that my solo career is not that bright

The artist emphasizes that her new solo song is completely minimalist. According to Silvia, now she wants to return to simplicity, certainty and sincerity.

“For me it is important that the entire instrumental and vocal line is listened to to maintain certainty and sincerity. It is especially important that this message reaches the listeners now, when we are full of fear, we are closed at home for a long time, so it is important to be positive, enjoy loved ones, be with them. This is not my first solo song, but I recorded it in Lithuanian for the first time. We live in Lithuania and I love our language ”, smiles the woman who dedicates almost all her free time to music.

Eglė Gadeikytė’s voice is also heard in Silvija’s new work: the girl sang in the group “Tele Bim Bam” as a child, and her rich voice is still recognizable to fans. Guitarist Paulius Volkovas and composer Vitas Vaičiulis also contributed to the birth of the song.

“The song is dedicated to a man. She is in a good mood, sincere. The song includes our story with my husband, more specifically, an acquaintance. Looking back, warm feelings arise, it is good to remember the first dates, ”says S. Pankūnaitė-Micutė.

Silvia, who gave birth to her first birth almost five months ago, says she finds time for herself, and in the last month of summer she also had her first outing on stage after the birth of her daughter.

“My daughter is growing up. And sometimes I can go out somewhere; I run to the recording studio and spend some time. Usually the girl stays with her husband, sometimes with her grandparents. And in early August, I had a concert with the band SEL – it was the first outing to the concert activities after the birth of my daughter ”, the interpreter is happy with the uninterrupted musical activity.

It is true that the woman does not bother the SEL performer label and says that being in this group is only an advantage for her, even in the pursuit of a solo career.

“SEL is one of the best known groups in Lithuania. I also sing with the band The Backs, I have other projects. I realize that my solo career isn’t that brilliant, but I really don’t want to forget about myself. I have various thoughts, ideas and I want to realize them. Sometimes the works that I want to show people take longer, but I don’t write them down in abundance. I really want compassion, certainty, sincerity, ”says Silvija.

Despite participating in various projects, the interpreter has repeatedly tried the Eurovision scene: for the first time, she claims to have participated in the competition when she is only 16 years old.

Then, more than 10 years later, I came back with a solo song, then I participated in a competition with the producer “OKai Gerai”, with the girl group “The Backs”. I also got on the big Eurovision stage with Yuri. So Eurovision I have a lot of experience ”, smiles Silvija.

The singer herself says that she calmly allows her quarantine: she is with her daughter, who makes music, gradually plans future activities, which is not entirely guaranteed due to the pandemic.

“Some concerts are planned for the future, but their fate is not yet clear. And I feel quite calm, this time it coincided with the birth of my daughter, so I spend more time at home and try not to live too long for it. I go to large gatherings, I protect older relatives, we take care of ourselves, ”says the woman who became famous with the SEL group.
