The center clarified that of the 1,531 new cases registered last day, 714 remained unsolved, but 487 of them entered the system in the late afternoon and at night.
According to the NVSC, the data provided in the system -the moment the positive tests were imported into the system- were not fully evaluated, so those that entered the system when the case distribution is not performed are also included in the cases not examined.
“NVSC regrets the mistake, it was caused by employee fatigue, stress and strain,” the center said in a statement.
Meanwhile, of the 1,044 positive test results known to the center at 5 p.m., 227 remained unexamined.
According to the NVSC, the investigation of all these cases was carried out until 9:00 p.m. Saturday, and the center also carried out epidemiological investigations of the new cases identified on Saturday.
According to the NVSC, an average of 4-6 cases per day is examined by a person, which is in line with the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control standard.
“To investigate about 1,500 cases per day, the number of specialists who perform case traceability is required: 250-350, so the help of volunteers from the Lithuanian Armed Forces and entrepreneurship is currently irreplaceable”, read the NVSC report.
With more than a thousand new COVID-19 cases registered in Lithuania every day, NVSC specialists are assisted by volunteers working two shifts, and an established call center with the help of companies has started operating.
