On Friday, 94 members of the Seimas voted in favor of such a resolution, 11 against and 16 deputies abstained.
Disappointed by the democratic processes in the Seimas, MP Vytautas Bakas called the new junta a “troika”.
Tomas Tomilinas, a “peasant”, lamented that “a very strange structure has never been legalized, it has never been in the history of the Seimas.”
“We really have no doubts about the personalities, but we really are not doing the right thing,” he said.
Parliamentarians were interested in knowing when the Board of the Seimas will be supplemented by other members. Seimas spokesperson V. Čmilytė-Nielsen replied that next week she intends to meet with the factions, after which she intends to nominate candidates for the post of vice president of Seimas.
ELTA recalls that in the first session of the new mandate, the Seimas elected the president of the Seimas V. Čmilytė-Nielsen, its first deputy J. Razmas and deputy A. Mazuronis.
