“As we predicted, there may be an increase in crime in the immediate environment, and murder is probably the most serious form; What we are seeing is 26 murders this year, compared to 15 last year. These are basically domestic murders, most often under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In general terms, if there is a conflict, when both co-inhabitants consume alcohol and fight each other, they start hurting each other, or when some friends, drinkers consume alcohol and this has serious consequences: they kill each other. ” Delphi day says R. Matonis.
According to the interlocutor, almost all the detainees were intoxicated or under the influence of drugs.
“Most events are recorded when people have been intoxicated with alcohol. All those murders can also be said to have come to light. Basically, when officers arrived, those people were on the scene or detained after a few hours , all these crimes have been cleared up, ”explained the police representative.

According to him, there are crimes that are quite difficult to detect.
“It is more difficult to discover the robberies that are being prepared in advance. For example, car robberies, farms, garden house robberies because it is not clear when exactly they were committed. Often, people just go to the farms after winter and they don’t know exactly when they were cleaned, such an investigation is more complicated, takes more time. Also, when it comes to online fraud, we see that they are usually done from multiple servers, which are not even in Lithuania and even in non-member countries the EU, but in Asian and African countries with which Lithuania does not have legal aid agreements, and if it does, quite difficult to carry out. Such crimes are much more difficult to explain, “said R. Matonis.
In Lithuania, certain allegations had been heard, allegedly that some returning migrants had committed some crimes. A police spokesperson was reluctant to say this, but some of the crimes committed have a new twist that has not existed in recent years.
“We probably could not specifically say that returning migrants are committing crimes. But we see certain trends in certain criminal acts and especially such ways of committing, which have not existed recently in Lithuania and which were committed in the old days. For example, Arson, property damage, attempts to avoid liability in certain ways This was not the case before, and occurred during the quarantine, but if the people who did it are returned migrants or if the same Lithuanians who changed their line have not yet they can respond, ”said R. Matonis.
